Logo for Earth SanghaOn behalf of BAEE, Karen Ringstrand will present Chris Bright, President of Earth Sangha, with a grant of $10,000. The money will help to fund their "Schoolyard Greening Kit Initiative". This highly regarded nonprofit organization focuses on restoring native plant communities and controlling invasive alien plants. Earth Sangha's mission is ecological restoration as a form of socially engaged Buddhism. (Although they work in the spirit of Buddhist practice, all volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and their work is secular and science-based.) Their Wild Plant Nursery works to propagate native plants directly from local forests and meadows. You can read more about Earth Sangha's work and find directions to the nursery on their website.

This grant is made possible by the sale of the BAEE book American Botanical Paintings: Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic. If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, contact us through the BAEE web site, or see one of our members. The book is also available on Amazon.
